Latest News:

Miss Alpha Factor!

Four gymnasts represented Regent Gymnastics Club at the Miss Alpha Factor competition on 18th and 19th February 2012.

The competition, which was held in Ipswich, is unique in that it is the only open competition available for
Compulsory and Club Grades outside of the official County and Regional Grades.

Eleven-year-old Rachelle Flambard competed at Grade 6 against a strong field of 15 gymnasts in the 12+ age group category. Rachelle's highest score of 11.95 was awarded for her dynamic Yurchenko preparation Vault. This gave her 5th place on Vault, only 0.05 away from receiving a bronze certificate! Her strong twisting somersaults secured her 8th place on Floor and her balance and control placed her 7th in Range and Conditioning.

Shannon Webber (14), Claudine Ollivro (13) and Georgia Dodd (11) all competed at Grade 11.  For all three girls it was their first experience of competing outside of the Southern Region. Both Webber and Ollivro performed excellent Vaults to score 11.55 and placing them equal 7th in the 18-strong, 12+ age group. Webber also performed a beautiful flowing routine on the Bars to score an outstanding 11.05.

Julia Falle (Coach) commented that all four gymnasts gained valuable experience from the competition from both competing their Grade routines in advance of the County and Regional Grade competitions as well as from mixing with gymnasts from all over the UK. They are all looking forward to perfecting their Grade Routines for the County and Regional competitions taking place in March and April.
